Notaries have the authority to notarize juristic acts and facts related to private right. They also have the authority to attest private documents, official documents and the transcription or photocopies of private or official documents.

Notarial affair shall be handled by "Court Notaries" (i.e. Notaries serving in the courts) or by "Civil Notaries" (i.e. Notaries who operate their own office).
